Help! Now that my son has been accepted -as of 2 days ago - to the school of his dreams, off of the waitlist, school is telling him that they will notify us about financial aid 2-3 weeks from now, obviously much too late. Has anyone else run into this, and how have you managed it??

What school is it? Depending on the school you may not get much FA since most will go to those students getting in prior to the WL. Can you afford for your son to attend this school without FA? Once again, it depends on the school.

Fordham, and no, we could not easily afford this.

I don’t think you are required to accept it until you see your FA.

Wow. Thanks - I will doublecheck, as I had not even thought of this.

Hey, Bluelaser.

I’m most likely going to Fordham, but we’re waiting on our FA appeal (we didn’t get out package until a week ago). We called and they told us to just go ahead and put our deposit down since we’ll be waiting until after May 1st to get a decision. We did, but we also put one down on my financial safety school. So I’m thinking you can do the same thing; just put a deposit down on Fordham, and your financial safety. But like oldfort said, you might not even have to accept it until you see your FA. I’d call.

Good luck!

Collegebound91 - Thanks so much for this insight. As a matter of fact, while reading your response tonight, I have found a direct email to us from Fordham’s financial Aid office apprising us of our son’s financial aid. I am immediately looking on the website to find the proper process for appealing the financial aid. Can you shed any light on the proper process here? Thanks again.
