They expect us to complete all the financial aid forms by Jan 15? that leaves like a week to do the FAFSA.

When D applied, it seemed like PROFILE was due in November!
ack.
However, once you do the PROFILE, it provides you with a form to use to fill out the FAFSA with. Using past income tax forms and last pay stub of 2008, gives you a pretty good idea of your numbers for FAFSA. You can fill out the FAFSA online starting Jan 1st, which I recommend. After final W-2s are received in Jan, you can always go back and correct the online FAFSA numbers to final versions.

Many colleges ask for the financial aid forms to be completed in January, so Reed is not out of the ordinary in this regard. If your parents and you don't have all of the data yet for your 2008 taxes, it is OK to estimate on the FAFSA, submit it, and then, after you have received your FAFSA Student Aid Report you can go back and correct any information as soon as you have it. Just don't forget to do so!

PROFILE was due in November, and FAFSA takes 15 minutes. Also, that's over two weeks from when FAFSA opened.

Yeah, the FAFSA is really simple to fill out. I had it done in about twenty minutes (maybe) on the first. And if you don't have all of your financial/tax information don't worry. They give you time after filling the form out (send you an email and everything) to make corrections as you find that you need them. I don't know if we can correct them after the fifteenth, or if they should be completed by the fifteenth, but I can only assume that Reed wouldn't scream at you for needing a little longer to fill out tax information.
