Financial Aid in Second Year of Undergrad?

<p>Is it possible to ask for a financial aid package in the second year of undergraduate? Or is it only available when you apply in high school? Thanks guys :)</p>

<p>You must apply for it at the same time as your application out of high school. if you did not apply for it in yoru frehsman year, you will not get it for sophomoreare year.</p>

<p>I’m pretty sure you can…since you have to re-apply every year…
So basically…if you’re a freshman now then you will still have to apply for financial aid again late spring semester, though I’m not sure it matters whether or not you applied for it in high school…</p>

<p>Hm ok actually, it might be different if you are american. You may be able to apply for it if you didnt apply in HS.</p>

<p>But if you are need-aware international, you must apply for it during same time as HS app.</p>

<p>yea I agree…i guess the answer would vary depending on your status (as in year and citizenship)…i say the best way to get a clear cut answer would be to email the financial aid people…they respond relatively quickly</p>

<p>If you do not apply for financial aid, then you are not disadvantaged compared to us citizens/residents.</p>

<p>If you do apply for financial aid as an itnernational, then you are need-aware, you are in a more competitive pool. </p>

<p>They will not admit you unless they are sure you can afford it. Which is to say, if you did apply for finaid, there will not be a situation where they accept you, but won’t give you aid.</p>

<p>This varies by school depending on their policy. You can check with the FA office to see where Cornell stands on this. You will need to fill out the FAFSA and the CSS profile.</p>

<p>Cornell is need-blind for international students. International students applying for aid are not at a disadvantage to international students not applying for financial aid. Cornell will admit international students regardless of their financial situation. However, Cornell does not meet the need of every international student, so the applicant’s application, essays, ECs, etc are taken into account when awarding financial aid to accepted international students. <p>If you didn’t apply for FA freshman year, you can apply later on ONLY if your family’s financial situation has changed.</p>
