Financial Aid Loan Cap

Hello. I remember reading about the breakdown of loans being capped at a certain number, but I forgot what those numbers were and I can't find it here or on google. I want to know the cap for the $30,000-60,000 income bracket, and if possible, the number specifically for freshmen. I ask because when we first submitted the Fafsa, we estimated just over 60,000, but when we fixed it with actual numbers, we were just under, and I received my finaid package and was not as pleased as I had hoped. :( Just wanna make sure I'm getting everything I can.

i think this is the site ur lookin for?: <a href="http://www.futureowls.rice.edu/futureowls/Student_Aid_Profile.asp%5B/url%5D">http://www.futureowls.rice.edu/futureowls/Student_Aid_Profile.asp</a></p>

This from the form in DS's financial aid package:
From families with total incomes under $30,000 we meet all need eligibility with grants and work study--no loans! ..... Familes with total incomes between $30,000 and $60,000 will be packaged with no more than a four-year total of $11,6000; for those with total incomes over $60,000 the four-year packaged loan obligation wil be no more than $14,525.
Also, outside scholarships reduce loans and workstudy first - so apply for those little outside scholarships. They will reduce your student loan amounts.

So if they are expecting to give me $2,625 in loans for freshman year and we make less than $60,000, can I assume that this is a mistake (going from WeedBoy's link)?? Should I contact the finaid office?

Clen,

You can certainly call and ask, but WeedBoy's link shows samples. In contrast, Anxiousmom's quote is about their policy. Your loan amount falls well within the policy.

But hey, call and ask - it probably can't hurt.
