Is BU known for being a school that is not cheap and stingy with its money, but is willing to give scholarships and financial aid to good students. Or do you have to have a 4.0 gpa with perfect SAT to get money.

I can only speak on merit awards, and that is this: BU is fickle. Read some of the previous threads on this topic and you'll learn that some kids with amazing stats got nothing, other kids with great but not stellar stats got 1/2 tuition scholarships. Personally, I think a lot has to do with whether BU thinks you'll actually attend if awarded a scholarship, but that's based more on anecdotal stuff here on CC than any hard facts.

Here's the website regarding merit scholarships you want:

Advice: If you're interested in the Trustee, ask your principal to nominate you NOW, before the school year is out. Only one nomination per school allowed. Oh, and for the Trustee, you really do have to be a stand out, not necessarily perfect SATs and grades, but be Ivy caliber.

Hope this is helpful. Good luck!

I got $10k per year from the Dean's Scholarship. Check stat profile.

I got a huge financial aid award. 52,000 including a small loan but the rest grants.

I got a pretty giant financial aid package freshman and sophomore year, mostly all grants. None of mine was merit-based.

I don't think I'll get as much this year, though.
