Hi guys,
Does anybody have any experience with getting more financial aid from Brown? I just got accepted off the waitlist. I don’t know my financial aid status for sure, but it’s likely that my family will need more, so I want to start asking for advice about appealing / getting more money. Any stories or experience? Thanks!

I would assume you have to call the financial aid office and present them with what you got at other comparable institutions. (i.e. need-based only aid offers) I have heard rumors that the waitlist does not have to be need blind, and therefore, I would assume it also means that they are less likely to offer the necessary aid. Regardless, it certainly doesn’t hurt to try.

How much time is Brown giving you to decide? Make sure Brown FA is aware of that deadline.

I appealed this year after my financial aid award increased from my estimated contribution (I applied ED), and Brown worked really well with my family’s situation. Call Brown and talk to them about it - it will just depend on your family’s situation, etc.

I did not have the best experience with Brown’s financial aid. I was accepted this year and cannot attend because of finances. My dad changed his job this February too one that earned half the salary he used to earn and they told me they would not change my financial aid until next year.

I’m going to find out my status this Monday, and I’ll have a week to a week and a half to make a final decision.

Good luck. My son is senior (PLME) and loves Brown. His sister is on the WL so clearly she loves it too.
