When you get to the end of the net price calculator and the results indicate the scholarships and awards you may receive… is that inclusive of merit awards? And if not, would a merit award impact the amount of NEED based award you receive?
Hi @kristi4806, the answer to your two questions is “typically yes”…
The net price calculator does ask for some basic academic information so it can estimate a merit aid award. In general, merit awards will replace “need” if the merit meets or exceeds the “need” amount. Thus, if a student had $10k in need but received a $19k merit scholarship, they would no longer qualify for the need based scholarship as technically need is met. I say typically because, we don’t know until we have the FAFSA and CSS Profile data.
I always suggest students and families either meet in person or have a phone conversation with their financial aid counselor in our financial aid office. Each financial aid award is unique to the student and family so there are no easy or clear cut answers. Their direct number is 203-582-8750 or finaid@quinnipiac.edu.

Thank you… That might actually place us out of the running for quinnipiac unfortunately because it looks like we’d still have a 40k a year responsibility.
