Hi, I am an incoming freshman and I was offered a huge financial aid package. However when I received my bill for the Autumn quarter there is no indication of that package and it seems that the bill includes all the tuition fees and expenses. Will they automatically apply the funds in my package later or is there something I need to do?
Thank you
The financial aid should be reflected in your bill for sure. Call the financial aid office or maybe call the bursar direct as soon as possible.
Thank you for your response,
All the transactions in my bill were tagged as “Pending” and the “Transaction Date” is Sep 16 (whereas the due date is Sep 18). The bill indicated that “Pending Transactions” are anticipated charges such as financial aid or loans, so does that mean the financial aid is actually reflected in my bill? (I am not sure what the “Transactions Date” is, maybe the date they apply my aid?)
If you received a paper bill in the mail, all of the charges (tuition, room, board, student life fee, medical insurance if applicable) should be delineated as should the credits (“University Gift Aid”, etc). You should be able to see clearly–line by line–what they all are. The transaction date and notes that an item is “pending” are formalities which appear on everyone’s bill.
The bottom line is if the net cost is much higher than you expected (expected as a result of your financial aid letter), then something must be missing. Again, as I suggested above, give the bursar or financial aid a call first thing Tuesday. Don’t panic. You’ve got time to sort this out.
Actually, I’m on a full scholarship to the University and don’t see any of my aid reflected on the bill either. I’ve been talking to my friends about this and it seems like the financial aid office has just become morose and unresponsive. So don’t worry about it, they’ll sort it out soon. Seems like a systemic failure with the IT systems at financial aid.
As Kaukauna suggested, I recommend calling the bursar’s and / or financial aid office first thing Tuesday morning. My son’s bill accurately reflects his scholarships and other aid. There may be an IT glitch somewhere, but it is not universal. This is not the sort of thing you want to ignore.
Yes definitely I will call them.
Also, I can’t view my awards in the My Financial Aid account, it still indicates that my CSS Profile and Tax Return are missing (as of January).
@neweducation : Have you tried to contact them? Can you view your aid in the account?
