Financial aid office just wrote saying they needed our taxes to provide son with a Financial Aid package which is all well and good except

the don't require 2012s until April 15th

despite that we already sent 2011 and 2012 and the financial aid portal notes they were received more than a month ago!

I will re-fax but we really want that FA package because it's make or break for my son!

Did accepted students get your packages with your admissions letter? Do they come in the mail later?

My kid was admitted EA, and her financial aid letter was available online with her decision. Double check your son’s acceptance page for links to other things (FA letter or merit aid letter). We missed them the first time around looking at it, too excited about her acceptance. I think they will eventually post the FA out there, even if it is not there today. The same letter posted on her portal was also enclosed with the acceptance packet (which came something like 10 days after her acceptance).

My D’s financial aid offer was available online today, at the bottom of the invitation to an accepted students day. I would call them before faxing, it sounds like you have sent in everything they need. Sometimes things are not coded properly when downloaded from iDoc.

No, not there. Looked really carefully and there is nothing except his acceptance letter with the admitted students link and that is all generic housing stuff. Nothing specific to him.

I will go ahead and fax the information and then call on Monday to make sure it’s complete. With tomorrow a Saturday I don’t think they will be in the office!

Well, just be sure to call them.

Oh, I just remembered, Chicago doesn’t use iDoc. Still, if the portal shows the documents received and the communication from the college says otherwise, there is a glitch! You need to talk to a human who can look at their database and tell you what the problem is. I wouldn’t just confirm acceptance of your fax. Ask them to check into the problem, they should be able to do that very quickly. They might release your aid package faster if they find an internal error - just a guess, but I’d be motivated to get it straightened out if I were them!

I had a similar thing happen with another college, and it was a problem with the coding of the forms. In my case re-sending would not have helped. That’s the basis for my suggestion.

Good luck!

i dont have financial aid on mine… we still have a few forms to turn in

My son really wants to accept the admissions offer and the FA is holding us up so I will call first thing Monday morning and I think we can clear it all up.

Right now he will just revel in the excitement, because who knows…maybe it will be a package we can’t do, and I would hate to disappoint him right off the bat!
