Financial Aid Package?

When does UMD send out their financial aid packages. i was accepted in january but still don't know how much, if any, money i got from the school. i know i didn't get a merit scholarship, but it would be helpful to know if i was recieving any aid at all. does anyone know where i can check?

Financial aid packages are suppose to come out by the end of this month

Got mine today

got mine today too, but Maryland State grants haven’t been released yet so hopefully a lot of the loans will be replaced.

how did you know your directory id information?

Your ID is your student number you got when you applied , should start with “111…” (I believe they all start like that ). For your password you have to create that at :

http://www.oit.umd.edu/new/student.html

Yea and I got my financial aid package today too

my financial aid package was not very good…limited loan amount

33dmjjm what are your stats? Cause I got the same type of package, loans & work study.

Unless you have received a merit scholarship, your FA from the school is going to be work study and loans. If your are a Maryland resident, you are eligible for state grants depending on your FAFSA number.

Still haven’t heard anything about the financial aid package, son was admitted and accepted to the scholars program, so am getting worried that it is taking this long. Anyone else still waiting?

Not to worry tnavitz… the people here who have found out already are lucky to be in one of the first waves of decisions. Per their site on UMD.edu. RE: incoming freshmen…

“The Office of Student Financial Aid will send out award notifications for need-based aid via email before April 1st.”

I do love that there’s a deadline like that for incoming students, but if a current student calls the answer is along the lines of “May 15thish…if we feel like it…”

Also I don’t think their up to “111…” with ID’s yet. My year is 1105, current freshman are 1106…unless there’s no logic to it at all, I’d guess 1107 for this class, maybe 1108 with a huge application increase…

Just went to look over my financial aid package and it is no longer there. The page says no package has been made. It was there last week. Has anyone else run into this problem?

^The application is shut down for maintenance

That’s weird its still down

Hello I am trying to decide whether to go to Boston University or University of Maryland. Unfortunately I will not hear from UMD about financial aid for another week. Would any of you mind telling me exactly how much aid they gave you so I can get a feel for the type if aid I might get.

^ are you out of state for both ?

That’s probably the most important question honestly.

Has anyone ever successfully appealed financial aid? My family is currently on food stamps and my siblings get free lunch, but my FAFSA had my dad’s severance package on it, so it looked like we were extremely well off. In addition we have ridiculously high health bills, and my county came out yesterday as the fifth highest for property taxes. (We get tax right offs for our property taxes–it’s that bad. It’s not a high income area)

I’m in state for UMD and out of state for boston (obviously hah) Boston gave me pretty great financial aid but i would still be paying like 12k a year (which isnt bad) but I’m hoping maryland will give me more.
