<p>It would be fun to meet you as well, but I think the next weekend when we’re at MIT, you’re at Princeton, right? Well, when you find out which way your son is leaning, let me know and I’ll do the same (right know I know that I’M leaning to MIT, but I don’t have any feel for which way he is).</p>
<p>Did the overall math and while it seems like a small difference at first glance, the bottom line would be about a $20K difference over 4 years (more for Caltech vs. MIT). They had about $3500 more a year in parent contribution and $1500 more a year for student. By his junior year with one sibling graduated it would make about twice the difference so I’m multiplying that by 4 ($5K more for each of the first 2 years, $10K more the third year, same the fourth year). By senior year with both brothers graduated we’d be full pay at either school. MIT seems to have cut us the most slack for having 3 kids in college at once among any of his schools.</p>
