Financial Aid Question

For the 2014-15 academic year I have accepted enough financial aid to cover registration, tuition and fees, housing, and dining. However, I went to my money matters tab and saw under the student account’s balance area that it says I owe registration, tuition and fees by 8/18. Is there a way to elect to have my expenses deferred to financial aid on the portal?

Also I spoke with student accounts about a separate matter two weeks ago and they told me that I had enough financial aid to defer my costs; yet they still posted these registration fees on my student account via the mycalpoly portal. What am I to do about this issue?

"Note: students who have financial aid for the current quarter are not subject to class cancellation or financial holds related to the current term’s registration & tuition fees during the registration rotation period until the first scheduled financial aid disbursement date (click on the link below for complete details).

If you still have questions after reading the information on the website, which appears to explain it fully, give the financial aid office another call.

@Emmasmum‌ Thank you so much for that info! So just to clarify: the registration and fees that has a due date for 8/18 does not affect me because students with sufficient financial aid for registration, housing and dining will be billed for those costs when financial aid is disbursed the week before classes start. Also when looking at my student account this morning I noticed next to the reg. and other fees balance was a statement that said “not subject to cancellation.”

One quick question: when financial aid is disbursed the week before classes begin does financial aid just take care of everything on my behalf or is there further action on my part as part of the financial aid disbursement process?

You are not expected to pay until your financial aid is disbursed but I believe you have to go to your account and pay from your financial aid when you receive it. The website explicitly states that you need to go in and request housing and dining b paid from your financial aid funds.
