Financial Aid Question

Hello everyone,

I am a German regular decision applicant who has applied for financial aid, although I probably would not be getting much aid even if I got in. Borderline stats, I guess: 29 ACT and 43 IB. I have now been offered a pretty well paid job which I could do during a gap year to offset a lot of the tuition that Brown charges, so I was wondering: would I stand a better chance now as admissions officers are going into committees if I withdrew my aid application?

I think it might be too late to make any changes. Can you make enough money in one year to fulfill the requirements of the student visa? What would you do in years 2,3,4?

I could. I was just asking because I noticed there being an option to have the Financial Aid indicator changed to a “no” from a “yes” on the portal.

You could always request a gap year after receiving an acceptance, which Brown would grant you after approving your gap year plan. Mainly, they want to ensure that the year is used for personal growth rather than playing video games. Absent any major economic change to you or your family, you can assume that any financial aid you are offered will be repeated the following year(s); to do otherwise would create havoc among all students receiving aid, who then might be forced to withdraw from school before completing their degrees.
