hello,

Is any international applying for financial aid accepted to Brown under ED?

Yes... the financial aid request wasn't fully met from what I can see on selfservice.brown.edu, but I'm waiting for the official letter and then I'll try to see if it can be improved or not.

My December SAT scores are a lot better than the ones they saw when they accepted me (2320 instead of 2220). Could this be a reason for increasing the financial aid a little more?

Please, don't ask for exact amounts as I'm not willing to give them. Let's just say that if things stay like they are right now I'll be able to pay, but it won't be too easy. I'll probably have to find internships each year. :-)

greco, then that means you are not expecting full need based aid?
and congs for your scores
i am surprised there's only greco?
is there noone else?

From Brown's website:

"Financial aid for foreign citizens, however, is limited. If you wish to be considered for financial aid at any time during your four years at Brown, you should apply at the time of admission. All financial aid at Brown is awarded solely on the basis of financial need, which is determined annually by our analysis of applications submitted by students and their families."

Which means that because there isn't a lot of financial aid for international students, there aren't many admitted who need aid.

And because aid is based on need and not merit, an increase in SATs scores will not affect aid.

Also:

"Immigration regulations and restrictions on off-campus summer employment in the United States make it imperative that overseas applicants know exactly where they can obtain funds (e.g. family resources, government grants, or savings)."

purushottam: The financial aid information I received doesn't exactly mean "full need based aid". I think that they misunderstood something in my financial aid application. Anyway, it's not far from what my family can afford, so even if nothing changes I'm sure I'll figure something out in order to cover the relatively small gap.

I was thinking at possible internship opportunities, but after reading sly_vt's post I figured out that the "F" visa might pose some problems. I already worked in the US for 3 months during the last summer, but I had applied for another type of visa.
