Financial aid question

<p>so i have money on my bar account disbursed (fees already paid, so this is like money for books, etc) how do u get this money? do u get a check or something? where can u get it?</p>

<p>Do you have Bruin Direct? You get a refund via check or it gets deposited to your bank account a couple days after the 20th I think. (Not sure what date; the rest is true though.)</p>

<p>Bruin Direct is a service that you sign up for that deposits your refund(s) into your bank account automatically. Googlesearch it. </p>

<p>You will get your refund through a check sent to you instead of having it directly deposited into your bank account. Either way, you get the refund. My G-d, I am a liar:

WHEN WILL MY FALL 2007 REFUND BE ISSUED?</p>

<p>Financial Aid will disburse to your BAR account on the evening of
September 17, 2007.</p>

<p>Any funds remaining after the BAR balance has been paid will be refunded
to you by Student Accounting. Bruin Direct refunds will be issued within
2-3 days after disbursements pass through BAR. If you do not have Bruin
Direct, your refund check will be mailed to you. Please contact Student
Accounting at (310) 825-9194 to inquire about the status of your refund
check.</p>

<p>Please note that holds and/or outstanding balances will affect your
refund and that you must be enrolled at least half time in order for you
aid to be released.

Was it the 20th last year? OK sure! The rest is correct. Nope, I’m just thinking about the 20th in general:

WHEN IS THE DEADLINE TO PAY FOR FALL FEES WITH FINANCIAL AID?</p>

<p>The deadline for financial aid disbursements to pay for your Fall fees
is automatically extended by the Main Cashier to September 28, 2007 . If
your financial aid and scholarships cover only a portion of your fall
fees then the out-of-pocket balance must be paid before September 20,
2007 to prevent the assessment of a $50 late charge. Classes will be
dropped on September 28, 2007 for students whose fall fees have not been
paid in full.

<p>You’re better off just waiting for the check to come by mail. You have to send in a personal check and that’ll take 2-3 days (not to mention the actual processing time when it gets there). </p>

<p>If the check comes after you leave for the dorms and you live far away, just have someone deposit it in the bank for you.</p>

<p>I’m sure they start sending the checks about the same time they start refunding money through BruinDirect.</p>

<p>Last year, I got my refund in my bank account 4 business days after the disbursements.</p>
