Hi, I have a question about how many people want to receive financial aid, compare to all applicants. So, for example, 30 000 students want to attend into Harvard or Yale, or another good universities. What the % who want to receive financial aid? I just curious. Its 25 000 from 30 000?

There isn’t data on the applicants, but rather on the enrolled students, go to the Common Data Set for each college. I don’t believe the numbers are broken down for Intl. students.

For those two schools, I believe about 50% of enrolled students receive some FA. However, a much higher proportion of those who apply for FA receive it, as many high income families know they will not qualify for need based FA and do not apply.

Interesting, however, you think it almost half of applicants want to receive financial aid? because 9/10 students in college confidential show that they want to receive part or full aid from their school

Again, go to the CDS, the exact numbers are there. Also, please reread what I said carefully.

I didn’t say that half ‘want’ to receive FA, I said that half of enrolled students actually do receive FA. Of course everyone ‘wants’ to receive FA, but many families run NPCs and realize that they don’t qualify for need based FA and choose not to apply, even for generous, need-blind schools like Y & H because they don’t want to deal with all of the paperwork when they are sure they earn too much to receive any FA.

Ok, thanks , sorry for that :)
