Financial Aid Suspended...Any other options??

Hello all...I came across this forum and have found it to very informative. To make a long story shot, here's my situation...I have been attending college classes on and off for the last 10 years and have finally balanced work, kids and college and signed up in the spring for 3 classes. They informed me I was on probabtion and had to file an appeal. I did so and it was granted. I completed those 3 classes with a 3.5 GPA and signed up for 4 classes for the fall. I thought things were going great and was looking forward to my new classes and so excited about almost completing half of the credits needed for my AA degree. Then I get a letter from the college saying my aid was suspended because over those 10 years I attempted 31 credits and only passed 61.29% of them and you need to pass 67%. I am devastated to say the least...I called to speak to someone in the FA dept at the college and was pretty much treated like I was an idiot. She made me so angry and I didnt get to ask everything I wanted to ask so I thought maybe someone from here could give me some advice. I am going to file an appeal but if it doesnt get approved I was wondering if I could go to a different community college while on suspension. I just really want to finally finish what I started years ago but Im scared I wont get the chance. Any advice would be very much appreciated...Thanks in advance!!

You probably could, but you would not get financial aid at the other college, so there would not be an advantage over attending your current college without aid.

Is it too late to sign up for a couple of summer classes that might get your % of passed classes high enough?

It sounds like you only need to take one and pass one class to meet their SAP standards. I agree with alamemom, just take a summer course and pay for it out of pocket and ask if your aid can be restored for fall.
