Can any college financial aid specialist shed some light on my situation please. For the previous Spring semester I was on financial aid warning. Although I passed all of my classes for the Spring semester, my school placed me on suspension due to my pace of progression percentage. Being that this was my first time in this situation, I was under the impression that if I passed all of my classes, my warning state would be lifted. I did an appeal, and they denied it. I was taking all online classes, and my advisor recommended me to only take three classes, which I followed. He also advised me to retake a course I had already earned hours for. Although I retook it, and received a better grade, it did not help me in regards to my pace of progression percentage. I contacted my FA to get a better understanding as to why my appeal was denied, and this is the first time they informed me that I have a financial aid advisor. I have not received one email or phone call from this advisor. I thought I was on the right track in regards to my grades, but here I am left with nothing. I am expecting my first child, and this is the last thing that I expected to happen. Would I be able to apply for aid with another school? I’ll take any suggestions. I can not afford to pay out of pocket.
Are you asking if you can get need based aid if you transfer to another college?
- Each college has its own SAP guidelines. If you transfer, you will need to appeal to your new college.
- Remember, transfer students receive less aid in general than incoming freshman. Is your full cost of attendance covered with a Pell Grant and Direct Loan?
- You say you passed your three courses....what were your grades?
I was taking all online classes, my aid covered the cost.
I received a B and two Cs. My advisor had me retake Precalcus because I received a D when I took it initially. Although with the grades I received my GPA is back in good standing, my pace of progression lacked. Precalcus was counted twice in attempted hours, and once in my earned hours when I received the D. My attempted is now at 44, and my earned is at 28. But my GPA counts 31. All I need is 2 classes for the summer to meet the pace of progression percentage. I’m looking for any aid I can get to take these 2 classes.i mentioned my plan of action and everything and they still denied it
Summer aid is hard anyway. Now students can use Pell but until now the schools had to provide the aid and many didn’t for the summer.
You’ll need to work and pay as you go.
How much will it cost to pay for two summer classes?
1500
