I’m applying to uToronto and uWaterloo, and I currently live in the United States. I know that I have to apply as an international student for these universities, and that college costs will be higher, but I am a Canadian citizen as well and is there anyway for me to get financial aid as an international student even though I am a citizen of Canada?
You will NOT be an international student in Canada if you are a Canadian citizen! You will pay the Canadian rate or out of province tuition rate if you go to university in Quebec. They will evaluate your application as an American because that is what your secondary record will show.
@TomSrOfBoston Wait so the university has an option where it asks where do you study, and I selected united states. Since I am a canadian citizen, they will know that i am not an international student and I wouldn’t have to pay higher fees as other international students do?
As a Canadian citizen, you are not an “other international”.
You will be evaluated as an American applicant. If admitted you will provide documentation to show that you are a Canadian citizen and you will be charged the Canadian tuition rate.
