I have a legitimate reason to deffer my admission until next year. If the admission office accepts my reason and allows me to deffer my decision, does my financial aid package remain the same until next year? Or will I have to apply again, since my financial status might change over the year? If it varies depending on the school, these are the schools I have applied to: Penn State (accepted), Emory (ED II, haven't heard back yet), Rice (RD, haven't heard back), and George Washington Univ. (RD, haven't heard back).
Thank you!

you will have to reapply for financial aid. If you are getting need based aid your package will be based on 2010 income

Yes, my son deferred admission to a LAC a few years ago and my daughter is deferring this year. You need to resubmit fafsa and any ancillary financial aid applications to the school. And of course it is a bit uncertain that you will receive the same package next year… and in the meantime you want to put a deposit down this spring to hold your place. But if your financial situation stays pretty much the same, you will probably get pretty much the same financial need based aid package the next year.

By the way- won’t Penn state require you to reapply for acceptance? ( not 'hold ’ your place) if Penn State is like OSU that is an easy process. OSU told us that, unless the application changes, my daughter can even use the same essays and also include a statement saying that she was accepted last year, and deferred to “you fill in” this year. She would just need an updated transcript including last semester of senior year year.
