Financial aid

Hi, my name is Tiffany and I am an international applicant from Jamaica. I was just wondering something. Is the financial aid package sent with the admissions decision if accepted? What do people usually gate for aid and when are the regular decision notifications mailed out?
Oh and what are the minimum criteria for merit scholarships?
I got a 1530 SAT ( I know, terrible), a 3.2 GPA, lots of good extracurricular, Caribbean Advanced History number 11 rank and i am black international student. Hope this helps :)

The financial aid package wasn’t sent with my admission decision, only the information about a merit scholarship I received. I’m still waiting for my financial aid package despite being accepted two weeks ago. I’m not an international applicant so I’m not sure if it would be different!

tiffanybent, hopefully you are not counting on just Ithaca, as your SAT scores are below the 25th percentile of students admitted last year. Perhaps they will like your diversity or some of your ECs. Generally, if you are below the 25th percentile, your chances for merit aid are very small. With financial aid, they may not be as motivated to match your full need, unless of course your diversity gets extra weight.

Here’s the 2011-12 common data set for last years freshman profile:

hi. um I know my SAT are not very good but i think its above the 25th percentile (if i read it right). I got a math score of 530 and CR was 520 I did the test again and got a writing score of 520 as well.I did not get the chance to send the improved writing score though.
