Financial Aid

Does Pitzer College (one of the Claremont McKenna Consortium) provide a lot of financial aid? Pitzer is really expensive, and I'm wondering if it's worth applying. I think it's a good school, but I don't think it's worth having a large amount of dept after graduation.

If you got accepted/attending Pitzer, did they provide you with a large amount of aid?

Are you asking about merit aid or need based aid?

Just any financial aid in general that they offer, but yes both. :)

It’s about on par with other privates.

Here’s about the best estimates you’ll find, no merit mentioned:

[Financial Aid - Pitzer College](http://www.pitzer.edu/admission/financial_aid/index.asp)

Run their NPC, that’s going to be the closest estimate for your financial situation.

Pitzer offers mostly need based aid. They use both the CSS Profile and the FAFSA when determining the need based aid the school might award you.

They do have a limited number of competitive scholarships…but my guess is getting those would simply reduce your need based award.

I would strongly suggest that you run the Net Price Calculator on the Pitzer website. You would enter your family’s income/asset information and other information that helps Pitzer determine your need (e.g. Household size). This would be the best way to get an ESTIMATE of what the school might offer you. Hearing what others got really isn’t relevant as each student’s awards are individually calculated using Pitzers formula.

Do you guys think that getting a job would lower the amount of financial aid given to me?

Thank you guys for your help!

Students can earn up to $6K (I believe that’s the correct number) before it affects their FA.
