How generous is Emory with financial aid? I understand it’s given based on merit, so what would increase chances of getting a larger financial aid package?
It is not distributed based on merit. It is distributed based on demonstrated need. Need is determined by the FAFSA. Example, my son received one B in HS. GPA of 4.24 weighted and 3.997 unweighted. He received 10K per year in merit, 2.5K Federal Work Study. Every school he applied to gave him almost the same 10K. There wasn’t a school that gave him 20K or a full ride based on his grades. Now, the opposite did happen at NYU. They admitted him and gave him $0. Everyone who applies and is admitted to these schools like Emory come with excellent grades.
