is emory generous in the aspect of need-based financial aid? do they really meet 100% of need as they report? Because i know some schools (such as wake forest) that say they do but they really dont and they fill the award with loans. Wake forest claims to meet 100% of need yet when u check collegeboard it says 92%.

What did you guys receive in regards to aid? and what was your EFC?
Also, does anyone know about how much aid a person would get a very low EFC, like 100? Thanks!!

also, does anyone know about transfer financial aid?

i heard somewhere in this forum that transfer financial aid is composed entirely of loans. my own package places me 7000 in debt per year.

I was offered almost full ride, and only charged my EFC ($800). Even then, I was coverred by my Governor's scholarship ($900). So, I would have been expected to pay nothing.

However, I decided to go to GT because I decided to do an engineering program.

wow! thats great runningcircles, did GT give u a full ride, btw what were ur stats? and jessy what was ur efc?

Emory is pretty generous with FA for incoming students. I don't know about transfers, but I'm guessing that they're equally generous.

thanks for the info!

does anyone know how long does it take from the day u got accepted to receive financial aid stuff?

Usually, for transfers, a week or so

Well, I got a HOPE, Pell Grants, and a few other grants. I didn't get a full ride, but it was sufficient (I got one loan, but it was subsidized and fairly low). Plus, when I visited the schools, I just "clicked" with GT.

I also applied to Harvard, but didn't get in. Even if I had, I was set on GT just because I loved it so much and it felt homely (I guess I'm just a science nerd, haha).

Oh, my brief stats:
-4.1 unweighted GPA, 3.8ish unweighted
-Rank: 9/366
-1910 SAT (700M, 600V, 610W)
-A few good ECs with heavy involvement--ROTC, Spanish Honors Society, Rifle Team, Drill Team, Orchestra
-Awards: GA Certificate of Merit, STAR Student, Blue Ribbon in FLAG Foreign Language Competition, Spanish Essay Competition, a few department awards.
-In-State

"and jessy what was ur efc?"

zero, but i added 2,000 to my COA.

cost of attendance

oh, i dont get it though, why would one add 2,000 on their COA?
