<p>Do financial aid offices take into consdideration the parents debt load? Is that considered a financial hardship and is it worth appealing a financial aid offer (from a private school) if our (parents) debt load is extremely high?</p>

<p>Generally not -- it's possible that they will consider certain kinds of debt, such as debt for medical bills, in a more favorable light. But they won't give an adjustment for consumer debt.</p>
