Financial Aid

Has anyone heard back from financial aid yet? We’re they generous? I’m still waiting to hear back.

They are not very generous

According to your previous posts, you are an international student.
The Columbia web site states the following:

The Columbia admissions process is largely the same for all students, regardless of citizenship and residency, but international students are evaluated in a need-aware manner.

This means that the admissions committee considers how much financial aid a student requires when evaluating an application. All financial aid at Columbia is need-based, and there are no merit scholarships awarded for academics, athletics or other talents.

Basically, if you need a large amount of funding, and are an international student, you will be limited. You wont qualify for in-state funding and you wont qualify for any federal monies, which make up a large portion of financial aid for many domestic students. How much can you pay? Did you get into other schools?

We appreciate the advice but that information you gave is for CC/SEAS(traditional college kids out of HS) not GS (non traditional).

The financial aid stuff for GS is completely separate from the CC/SEAS pool.

GS doesn’t really give much aid to anyone domestic or not; its really a cash cow esp. for the military GI bill.
