Financial Aid

How is the average financial aid at Caltech? Is it doable if you're not rich?

what's your definition of "rich" ?

Well my parents combined income is less than 60k. But I do have a twin who will also be going to college, so I'm hoping the financial aid department takes this into account when deciding my financial aid. So given that, is it affordable?

If you get in, you'll probably get very good aid. I know Harvard gives everyone with <$60k family income full financial aid. Caltech shouldn't be THAT much far off.

yes, and they will take into consideration that your parents have two college aged kids.

They meet all of your demonstrated financial need. Which is basically the ~46K (for tuition, room, board, etc.) minus your expected family contribution (EFC number is the number FAFSA gives you saying how much your family can contribute).
So if you want a fairly accurate number, use the tool here:

Hope this helps!

The Financial Aid Offer will also include things such as "other meals, books and supplies, personal expenses, and travel allowance" within the total expense budget (in addition to tuition, r & b). The travel allowance is probably taking the red eye round trip Sept./June, but at least Financial Aid included something. Need computes to Budget-Resources (parental & student contribution).
