How are everyone’s financial aid packages? Mine at Brown was pretty sucky, $5000 in grants, $5000 in loans, $32000 Family Contribution, with a family income of under $60000. I don’t know how Brown expects my family to pay for that. My parents and I are obviously going to be appealing that package during ADOCH but is there anyone else facing similar circumstances? Why doesn’t Brown give a better package?

They probably took savings, investments and home equity into the mix.

i got 34000 in grants/scholarships from them

Brown automatically replaces all loans with grants for income under $50,000. sounds like you may have a good case to appeal--particularly if you've gotten better deals within the peer group

yeah,,, I got into georgetown, duke, rice, cornell, and a few other expensive schools and im getting pretty much everything paid in all, with my EFC = $0
i thought it would be the same for Brown,, now it turns out that its like
$ 11,000 a year that we have to contribute, its hard passing up the other "free ride" schools like georgetown or cornell, but i really want to go to Brown,.. i think were gonna call and see if something can be done., if not,, i'll sell my kidneys :-)

Yeah, I wasn't expecting much, but I really wasn't expecting nada, which is what I got. I guess it's not that surprising, really.

they gave my family a crapload of money, but we're broke and our expected EFC from the fasfa was like $1,000 anyways lol
i got an estimated $42,800 (including a $1,600 perkins loan)

like dciricle said, i would def. appeal...you have a good case :)...good luck!
