Hey everyone,

I received a $17,500 scholarship for four years (70,000 total). With that said, I do need FA in order to pay the rest of the tuition, how generous is Seton with FA?

Bluecrayon, who knows. I did see that earlier this month Pres Msgr. Sheeran announced that the entire university will undergo financial restructuring which may lead to “strategic cuts in spending” and “possible layoffs”. They just announced they’re dropping track and field (both men’s and women’s) for next year. So guess they’re cost-cutting wherever they can. As far as what they will offer next year for financial aid not knowing what all these cost-cutting plans mean to us, guess we only find out if we fill out the FAFSA. Financial Aid office told me the financial aid award letters are being mailed out late next week.

Daughter got her award today, not bad at all, 19500 scholarship and the rest loans with a 4000 total workstudy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that large in our family. Is that unusual to anyone else? I think that is about 20 hours max a week. That would up what we pay by more, because I don’t normally count workstudy. I wouldn’t expect her to contribute all of that and workstudy isn’t usually guaranteed.
It’s still expensive, but more than some others have given.

There is a poster in the financial aid forum who got a dreadful package from Seton hall. Almost $34,000 in loans. (I actually thought it was her thread I was clicking on).

My d got $4000 workstudy from SHU, as well, I thought that was a lot but I have no frame of reference. It would have to be a lot of hours to make that much, but maybe it was just a way of saying “get a job on campus and don’t worry about it.” Who knows?
