When do we hear?
I was accepted early and have been waiting to send in my deposits for months!
Does anyone have any idea when it will be sent out?

When I got in (EA, 2 years ago), the FA info came about a week and a half into April. I think (not sure) that was the pattern last year as well.

I got mine yesterday. I live in Maryland though so the mail from GU comes within a day.

srashidjr,

Are you happy with it? I am worried that GU will be less than generous.

I live in VA, so should be getting it soon I hope.

Hey Crozet,

I am very happy with it…My EFC was 4000 and although GU bumped it up to 6500…I still got 50k in grants and scholarships…My loan was replaced by a 3k GSP scholarship…so all in all…very happy…and looking forward to enrolling this fall.

During Georgetown’s Financial Aid Online Chat last week, we were told that financial aid info would be mailed the week of April 5. Looks like they moved that date up.

I just got mine today, and I would call it “average.” My EFC was bumped up about 11K from what the FAFSA gave me, and it would definitely be a large financial stretch for my family. It’s just not practical when compared to scholarship money elsewhere.

Good luck to everyone else though! I’m from OH so I’d imagine that most applicants will be getting theirs today.

@shrashidjr
$50k in scholarships and grants!? My EFC is around $3700 what do you mean they bumped it up to $6000?

yea…50 k in scholarship and grants…and the remaining 6k…is efc…my fafsa efc was 4000 that so gu probably used a formula that has my family paying more…

If you already got FA info, were you admitted EA or RD? My son is waiting anxiously, but an admit won’t help without enough $ to make it happen.

My daughter received her FA today. We are very pleased. She was admitted EA to SFS.

I just got mine - along with an acceptance and FA from Vandy - and it is very bizaare.
First of all, I have been award a Yellow Ribbon Veteran’s Scholarship - but I am sooo not a veteran or eligible for GI Bill benefits. Second, my estimated contribution is double that of Vandy - even though Vandy is strictly need money as well. It’s also well above my FAFSA contribution - even though the latter is known to be less than generous. Third, there is already a calculated amount (near 13000) for outside money - I do not have any outside scholarships or grants so why is that not N/A?

Does anyone else have such an odd FA letter?

For what it’s worth, I LOVE GU and got into SFS EA; it is such a bummer to have such a depressing EA letter.

I got my Georgetown FA and my Vanderbilt Acceptance/FA today too, and it’s not as strange, but the numbers are pretty sketch for me.
My family’s EFC was $13,000-ish (somewhere around there), and Vanderbilt gave me $38,000 in aid, which makes the cost about $20,000, a stretch, but easily doable.
Georgetown, on the other hand, decided our EFC was $39,000. They gave me $17,000. Same cost as Vandy. I was kind of shocked and completely dismayed, as the SFS is basically my dream school, and it will be tough as hell at this point to go.

srashidjr, colleges like gtown and stanford and columbia etc etc that practice meeting a candidates 100% demonstrated financial aid, they ALL have a minimal EFC of around 6500. its just not practical for them to let you go for free. they didnt bump it up, thats just how they do it. and compared to regular tuition fees, $6500 a year is NOTHING. be happy ill probably be getting a similar financial aid package

Actually madhukar, I go to Georgetown for free and have been for three years. I have an EFC of 0 and Georgetown (along with a few outside scholarships) cover the cost.

TheKingofCrunk, I’m surprised that there is such a large disparity in your finaid packages. The difference in EFC is due to different formulas (and using the CSS vs using FAFSA information). Did Vandy give you any merit based scholarships? For example, my sister was offered the full-tuition Chancellor’s scholarship. Did you apply for anything like that?

let me correct myself. your parents wont have to pay anything with an efc of 0, but you will have to pay 6500 out of the money you make from workstudy yourself.
