Financial Aid

I really want to go to BC but it’s so expensive!
How generous is the school with financial aid?
What scholarships does BC offer and what are the qualifications for them?
Thanks!

BC meets full financial need (as defined by them). BC is not as generous as most top 20 schools, but is more generous than some others.

BC offers ~15 Presidential Scholarships (merit $); only those that apply EA are eligible, and it takes top numbers. These are the only merit scholarships offered by BC.

In my experience, not all that generous. So far, the one complaint that I have about BC is about their financial aid.

Both of my parents are teachers in New York State, and my dad is retired, so it’s not like we have a huge income. The BC formula offered my family a good amount less than other schools who also only offer need-based aid. My parents sat down with the people from financial aid, and they told them that BC also expects that students contribute $2000 per semester, regardless of whether you have that much money in your bank account or not.

Regardless, it is a great school, and obviously worth the money. I just applied for as many scholarships as I possibly could through my school and community over my senior year and got a good amount so that I could attend BC. But you have to be careful with that too–sometimes, the financial aid office will count large scholarships as “assets,” which will then lessen the amount of financial aid offered from the school. We had to call up the school several times and fax some paperwork to make sure that didn’t happen.
