Hey I'm a Freshman in SEAS in columbia.....I realize there are many threads about the FE program here, but is anybody on this forum actually in the FE program, or graduated? If so, can these people give us a better idea about how selective the program is: avg GPA to get in, suggested internships, courses etc.

People who have no idea what this program is even about are making ridiculous claims...I just want to hear from somebody who was or is currently in the program

Someone else asked this question recently. None of the Columbia regulars who post here seem to know any specifics. I'm curious too. Ask someone at Columbia, and let us know the answer.

just so you know since the first FE class is class of 08.. you are not gona find any undergrad FE grads here... or anywhere.

I'm currently applying to the program. here's what my advisor (departmental) told me.
the 20/120 people accepted claim was true for last year. there is no minimum GPA requirement (although the lowest person I know in the program is a 3.6... most people are much higher) but the decision is heavily based on your performance in the FE required first year-soph track. you DO have to finish the first year-soph track during first and second year (or else you wont finish the program, unlikely for you to get your departmental advisor to let you off on that one)
it is as far as we know the first unergraduate financial engineering program. the MS program has long had a good reputation on the street.
internships.. helps little to none. no one has any "significant" internships freshmen year summer.. let alone any significant internship in a quant finance area.

the best way for you to find information is probably schedule an appointment with jenny mak and talk over it. prepare questions beforehand.
