financial safeties, small LACs?

So, up until recently I've been looking at Gettysburg college as my financial safety in terms of merit aid. However, I noticed that the school seems to be drastically less diverse than I feel comfortable with. Diversity isn't a huge issue, but I would like to find a nice balance. It would be really helpful if you guys recommended for me some schools that could be good financial safeties and have that small, intellectual, liberal arts college feel.

I'm also considering Scripps and Dickinson for possible merit scholarships. My stats are decent (3.68/4.33, 1540/2220) but not stellar. My parents are divorced and my dad has a higher income, so it would be really helpful if the college does not require the non-custodial parent forms.

Also, I'm interested in English, International Relations, Journalism, and study abroad.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

If you don't mind going cross-country...Sonoma State is really diverse and is only 6,000 students. :)

In fact, most California schools are pretty diverse. It's finding the small ones that gets tricky.

Try:

Beloit, Lawrence, College of Wooster, Pitzer.

Muhlenberg College
