Financial Statement Needed???

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in the process of applying to several private US colleges as an international NOT seeking any financial aid.

Do I need to fill out some kind of form that states that I will be able to fully foot the bill? USC has a form that needs to be filled out but I haven't heard of anything regarding the other schools.

Just making sure. Thanks!

if you ARE seeking financial aid, you have to fill out a separate form. otherwise, you don't have to do anything.

Most colleges will have you complete a "Certification of Finances." Colleges are required by law to verify your ability to finance a college education before issuing a document you need to obtain a student visa.

Check with the your colleges about when they want you to submit the form. Some colleges will give you a copy of the form along with your offer of admission and you only have to submit it if you choose to attend, while others want it right along with the initial application for admission.

thanks for the responses!

b@r!um, to be on the safe side, I'll just go ahead and send in the CoF. Any idea where I can find it? Is it the one that CollegeBoard has?

woah, that's weird. your post should be above mine haha.

Collegeboard only sells the forms to colleges who distribute it to their applicants for free. If none of your colleges has it online, you can find a copy here: http://www.stolaf.edu/admissions/applying/2008-2009%20International%20Student%20Certification%20of%20Finances.pdf

OK thanks a lot!
