Find out National Merit Semifinalist Status

I am having trouble finding out whether or not I am a National Merit Semifinalist.

My PSAT score from 11th grade has a selection index that is one point higher than that required by my state for 2018 (NH - my score is 218 and the cutoff is 217). When I log into college board, no asterisk is displayed next to my score and I meet all of the eligibility requirements.

I did not, however, receive a notification from my school that I attained Semifinalist status. My guidance counselors have not received any notifications from College Board or the National Merit Scholarship Corporation either, and I have not received any emails either. I have tried contacting both organizations over the phone, but both are currently out of office. I am getting nervous because the deadline for schools to send in applications is Oct. 11 (I believe). Is there anywhere I can find out more information and confirm that I am/am not a semifinalist?

Thank you for reading/answering!

You need to call Tuesday!!!
(847) 866-5162 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Central Time and let them know you have not gotten the log in info from your school. Have you GC call too!

Don’t bother with the College Board they have nothing to do with this and you won’t see anything on you College Board Account.

Thank you for your reply! I will ask my guidance counselor to call and call myself as well. Is there any other way I can check my status?

If I were you I would post on the national merit thread http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/20892569/#Comment_20892569

And ask if anyone has the list for NH or “the book” that lists NH NMSF if someone does PM them and ask them to look. You’ll need to give them you name, city and school which is why it needs to be a PM.

Were ther other NMSF at you school? The info is usually sent to the principle who passes it off to the GCs.

@3scoutsmom
Thank you! I will post this there now and ask about “the book.”

Unfortunately, there were no other NMSF at my school. I go to a small public school that has only ever had one other semifinalist in the past. I have tried talking to them about the issue but they seem not to have much information.

Thank you for all of your help!
