Finding a lab...how?

I'm currently a freshman and I have no idea how I would go about finding a lab to work in. I'm a student in good standing and am looking for advice on getting involved with a lab/research.

Could I get some advice on this?

Thank you in advance!

Go online to the bio website. Find a department doing research in the field you are interested in. Look at professors’ research interests. Find one that sounds interesting. E-mail them to see if they need help in the lab and explain your interest and etc.

Also works if you have a current bio professor that you like. Ask him if he needs help on any of his projects.

^That’s what I did. Worked out just fine. Worth noting that I agreed to volunteer/work for free, so pretty much there was no reason (other than lack of experience) not to take me on–no financial investment in this kid (other than if I messed up an experiment that then had to be repeated, meaning more materials or expertise were used…but that rarely happened since I was supervised so well).

Also repeated that process for finding docs to shadow (using hospital’s website, not bio departments) and eventually got involved with clinical research through one of the docs I shadowed.
