What a shame!
just to comment that immigration laws have gone bezerk. We should WANT immigrants who speak English well, were educated here, believe in our values, have a college degree, etc. We should want them to be legal and working for us rather than for another country (unless they choose to). However the H1B process has been completely overhauled after 2004, then hogged by “offshoring” groups.
Personally, I have few reservations about giving work visas to highly-trained professionals who have valuable experience to contribute. I am less convinced that it’s a good idea to be generous with work visas for freshly minted college graduates. Every entry-level position that goes to a foreigner is a training opportunity taken away from an American college graduate. And young college graduates are already struggling to find jobs as is.
While current H1b process looks quite illogixally messed up I agree with barium that freshly graduated bachelor degree students wouldnt be the best employee choices.
