<p>I'm trying to find a job this summer so I can get started when school starts. I'm going to UT austin and hirealonghorn.org isn't giving me much luck. I'm trying to find a job on campus because I don't have a car or anything to go driving far off campus without getting late. Are there any place I can go to look for a on campus job?</p>

<p>Try to become an usher at the Frank Erwin center for special events. It’s kinda random hours, but the pay is good and it’s on campus walking distance. You can get a job there even if you don’t qualify for financial aid/work study, it’s totally separate from all of that.</p>
<p>It’s hard to get a job on Guadalupe/the drag, a lot of the stores are employed by people who don’t go to college.</p>
<p>I’ll see what I can find, there so little openings for a school this large…maybe there will be more in the future.</p>
<p>Call the financial aid office and see if you’re eligible for work-study. Although they’re swamped with calls right now so it might take forever to finally get a hold of a person. Or your financial aid package may say if you’re eligible. If you do quality for work-study, there are a ton of jobs on campus available to you. I know the Student Organization Center at the 4th floor of SSB is currently accepting applications and if you look at hirealonghorn.com at the work-study job openings, you’ll see that a lot of those jobs are clerical work for all of the different departments.</p>
<p>If you don’t qualify for work-study, try to search hirealonghorn for various jobs surrounding campus. There’s plenty of those as well.</p>
<p>hirealonghorn is really your best bet because UT likes to post their student jobs there. you might be able to find for something on craigslist…sometimes there are servers jobs posted there for the UT lunch clubs.</p>

<p>The Starbucks inside the Union is hiring! I believe it’s walk in only so you’ll have to go there.</p>
<p>vaceespangole: Iam a creative person and I’m good with computers especially software and design. So I can deal with clerical, design, or computer work. </p>

<p>there’s lots of opportunities for design stuff if you can do it. i personally have one of said jobs on campus. i’ll ask my boss if they are still hiring, and if so, i’ll let you know.</p>
<p>i know that UT RecSports also has a design position that was open at the beginning of this summer, but it may have been filled by now.</p>

<p>@sprintuser: there are definitely jobs where you can study while you work. on hirealonghorn, i’ve seen a couple of lab proctors needed for the FAC computer labs. check there. also, dorms need people to work the front desk and you can study there as well.</p>
<p>^ The dorm front desk people are Clerical Assistants, and you have to apply in the Spring to get the job for the next school year. I almost applied, but I didn’t want to tie myself down to something that I didn’t know if I would want in the fall.</p>
<p>Do ya’ll think it would be better for me to find a job right now on campus while I am at home and nowhere near austin or wait until school starts and find a job?</p>
<p>Do research now, and apply/interview IMMEDIATELY when getting to Austin. This is key if you want a job, since most people “settle in” first and then try to get a job.</p>
<p>Well I haven’t found much luck by looking at hirealonghorn.org. I’ll ask around on campus before classes start and see any job openings and apply like crazy. but thank you.</p>
