Finding Internships as a Freshman?

Hi, I am currently a college freshman studying at Case Western University. I finished this semester with an unfortunate GPA of 2.5, but I am looking to see if I can find any paid internships over the summer in areas of either Biomedical Engineering or Computer Engineering/Science. I've started by browsing Interships.com and building a resume there, but was wondering if there are more efficient methods. Does anyone have any advice regarding finding engineering internships?

Thanks

I’m not sure about engineering, but in my experience, it is very difficult to find a paid internship out of your freshman year, no matter your GPA. Try looking for an unpaid job in your hometown. It’s a great way to start gathering experience for future paid opportunities.
