I have a couple of questions as someone who wants to switch careers and go to med school. My undergrad was in public relations and I finished with a 3.7 GPA. I have taken Calc I and Calc II, with A's in both. During a really difficult semester (personal issues), I received a C in statistics. This is the extent to which I have satisfied the pre-med requirements. I also worked mostly full time throughout college and have two years of PR work experience.

Would my application look better if I got a post-bacc pre-med certificate or is there no real difference that just going back as a non-degree seeking student and taking the required classes?

My plan is to do 1 year of biology, 1 year general chem, 1 year organic chem, 1 year physics, and biochem. Should I worry about taking additional science coursework or would this be sufficient if I did really well on the MCAT? In other words, say I did well in these courses and well enough on the MCAT to be competitive at top ranked med schools, would my coursework amount be deemed insufficient?

Should I retake statistics, where I got a C the first time mainly due to non-academic factors? Would getting A's in the courses listed above remedy the adcoms concerns?

Thanks!
