As a junior, I have a lot of stuff on my plate. I feel really uncomfortable analyzing a book I've never read, but I found that I've had to do that frequently for my American Lit class. Is this a common thing or do I need to step up my game??

Many people in my classes do it, but I haven’t done it this year. I did it once or twice last year, because the nonfiction was so, so boring and I lost my copy so I couldn’t finish it before the presentation was due. xD

I’d say you should really make finishing the books a priority, but clearly it is possible to do well without reading, so I guess you’ll be fine either way.

@bodangles I always try to finish but end up reading the sparknotes for the last couple chapters… which are usually the most important part. I’ll try to finish this one!

It’s a pretty common thing (and you also have to consider that a lot of people move their eyes over the words in books without really understanding them), but you can make time to read if you want to.
