Finnish Language programs

<p>We are investigating what schools have Finnish Language programs. Doing a quick Google search I see that Finlandia University in MI is one. Perhaps I am losing my Google search capability since what is returned from my searches is so limited. Are there others? More generally, how would one find language programs that are less mainstream? </p>

<p>I know that Notre Dame has an Irish Studies program that includes classes in the Irish language. So does Boston College. Probably not many others. What schools teach Hindi or other languages besides the popular ones, Spanish, French, Latin, German, etc.?</p>

<p>Did the University of Minnesota show up in your search? It should have classes in both Finnish and Hindi--it did back when I went there, as a Chinese major.</p>

<p>My search was "Finnish Language Programs". I came up with a number of pages of entries, mostly language schools not colleges. The search did turn up the following:</p>

<p>University of Toronto
Finlandia University (formerly Suomi)
University of California, Berkeley
Concordia
UCSD - independent study
University of Washington, Scandinavian Studies program</p>

<p>Since I did this search again, this topic on CC comes up . . . which includes the UMinnesota program. ;-)</p>

<p>An interesting bit of info, this thread comes on on page 3 of the Google search where a number of the programs I refer o above are on later pages. I might have to switch to Yahoo for searches.</p>

<p>The University of Minnesota and the University of Wisconsin both have Finnish language classes. Another school I would check would be the University of Texas.</p>

<p>The University of Washington has a Scandinavian Studies program which includes language courses in many Scandinavian languages, you can major or minor....</p>
