This may sound like an awfully random question, but I was wondering if any parents knew of any schools that have particularly good Hindi language courses, or at that, even offer any? I really am intersted in learning the language but have no idea which schools teach it.

Univ. of Chicago has it.

I'm not a parent, but I know that UCB has a great Hindi program.

I know that Northwestern has a major in it, which certainly surprised me. Check out Middlebury too. They are reknown for having a strong language program.

My son is a native Bengali language speaker and knows Hindi from watching Hindi movies at home. He is interested in learning Hindi in depth and was looking into U Chicago for Hindi, as well; he did not go there ultimately. I think UPenn has Hindi and Urdu. If you come up with a final list, could you publish it here? He is in PA near Philly, so a college with Hindi language course nearby would be great.

University of Michigan might have Hindi. I know there is an effort there to have a Bengali language course as well.

Syracuse University has a Hindi program. You might want to get in touch with Professor Tej Bhatia for suggestions. All the Universities with South Asian programs offer Hindi - UPenn, Wisconsin, Berkeley, Cornell, UMich. A goggle search should come up with more names.
