fires in dorm rooms

Fire alarms here are incredibly sensitive. We had the first one of the semester go off this morning at 9 (of course, Fridays are the only day I get to sleep in, and I was looking forward to not getting up till 10...oh well).

I don't know if we just have a large amount of people in my dorm who don't know how to make popcorn, but it's quite common for the fire alarm to go off because someone burnt microwave popcorn.

i wonder how many college fires start b/c of students lighting bongs or cigarrettes.

There are many false alarms to be expected, especially on Friday nights when most people get wasted and indecent. It happens frequently here at USC. We had one horrible night in my dorm where THREE different bastards either pulled the alarm or in one case played with a fire extinguisher which also set off the alarm. The first alarm went off around 11pm, the second at 2am and the third at 4:30am. My friends and I decided to have breakfast after the third alarm at our 24/7 Subway rather than going back to the dorm.

Fire alarms make me very glad that my bf and I live in different dorms - we can always head to the other's if ours goes off.
I was looking forward to a nice lie in this morning - woke up at half 7 feeling ill, puked up about half 8, then I was just starting to feel better when the fire alarm went off. And today's been the coldest day of the year so far by the feel of it.
