What are you planning on getting for your first car?

And if you already have one, what do you have?

I want to get an E46 BMW 325i with a 5-speed Manual in about a year.

I got an old Nissan Maxima when I was 16. It lasted nearly two years until it was totaled by a deer.

i got a nissan xterra when i was 16

a BMW..for a first car? what is wrong with this world

I was supposed to get my dad's old Chevy S10 pickup, but he sold it to help pay for my mum's new car.
What I would REALLY like is...a Mini Cooper(!)
But that's probably not ever going to happen.

i got a 530i!

GreenDayFan: Do you know anything about cars? If you did, you would know that a 2002 E46 325i costs roughly $2k less than a brand new Civic.

y0itzr0: What year? I love 5-series'. My parents have a 2008 535xi.

So to justify it, you compare a 6 year old car to a brand new one? LoL!

Anyway, I worked my arse off for several years and paid cash for an older model pickup truck. Not the best choice with gas at $4/gal. Oh well, live and learn right?

Yes, I do, because for an enthusiast, the 3-series is a no-brainer. RWD+I-6+brilliant driving dynamics=win. For me, that's more important than a new car. The E46's are mechanically sound, even if German cars are known to have some electrical gremlins.

The only Civics I would ever consider would be Si's.

I had an ancient Ford Escort for my first car. It struggled going up some of the steeper hills in my area, and my parents felt really unsafe letting me drive it that they helped me buy a newer 2003 Focus after the '04 came out and mine took a price drop. The car's made three cross-country drives and currently stays with me 3000 miles away from the state it's registered in, and I love it. I don't know if I'd buy one of the new Focus stylings since they ditched the hatchback, which I love for its increased visibility.

I tried sitting in one of the Scion sedans at a car show last year, and you could actually see my head coming out the top of the sun roof. A shame because it seemed like a nice car. :(

@ro51092,
mine is an 03! The last year they made the "classic" version. does ur name start with ro too?

E39 530i. Brilliant car, I like them more than the new ones (known as E60s). That car looks phenomenal, and is the epitome of BMW. Consider me jealous. haha

Yeah, my name starts with Ro(han).

I'm a BMW guy all the way<33

Rather an Nissan Altima Coupe, BMW X3, BMW 1 Series, or BMW 3 Series...or a Toyota Highlander :/

If I could have any car, I'd have the Hummer Truck. But with the rising gas prices, I'd have to go with a bug.

I drive a '99 Chrysler Concorde.

I love it...it's not perfect, but it gets me where I need to go and all my friends love it because it has a HUGE backseat. :)

Scion tC 2008 5 speed manual!!!...

On March 30, 2006 (the day after my 16th birthday), yes, I'm old, I got my first car.
2006 Scion tC. Paid in full by los padres.

I'm not using it in college though so we're giving it away, but at the time when/if I decide I want a car in college, my parents'll pay for that too.

Well my Dad, who's really out of touch, bought me a Mercedes sedan for graduation. Honestly, I'm really embarrassed although I of course like the car.

Be honest, what will people at college think?

ah khrushchevtm...that's the same for me...i got the car a month after my 17th birthday...but now im going to ucla and PARKing is horrible there so i won't be able to bring my car

I've never had one, and with going off to college this year, I don't plan on getting one for a while. I was thinking I'd be 21/22 before I got one. When I do, I want a Toyota. I freaking love Toyotas. A Toyota Yaris would be my first choice. =]
