First choice college?

If your first choice college doesn't offer NMF scholarships, is it worth it to list them over your second choice college who does?

If you list College A as your first-choice college but don't get accepted there, are you allowed to later change (in say Jan/Feb) your first-choice to College B, where you got into/will get into? If not, should you put down as your first-choice college a place you are pretty sure you can get into, as opposed to a reach you'd love to attend?

Thanks

I live in Oklahoma and OU had an NMS information session the a few nights ago. What they told me was that you can change your first-choice college anytime until the April 24th deadline or something like that. I may have heard wrong, so I’d love for others to post and lemme know whassup.

*1. If your first choice college doesn’t offer NMF scholarships, is it worth it to list them over your second choice college who does?

Name your second choice.

The second page of the semifinalist instructions tells you how to change your college selection. But you must let them know before they send out notifications to schools on March 1st. Or you can select undecided, wait until you make your decision about which school you are attending, and tell them sometime in April/May (the exact dates are on the last page of the instructions).

From what I understand, national merit gives you awhile to change your first choice school. The issue is if you want a scholarship, usually you have to list a school as your first choice by January (so in most cases before you know if you’re in or not). So pick either your favorite school that offers NM money or the school that offers the most.
