well i'm a finalist for the National Merit Competition, but I realized that I can't be considered for any Merit Scholarships from the NM people because I haven't chosen my first-choice college yet. Does anybody know if I can still tell them my first choice college and get any chance at a scholarship? Any help would be nice...

I dont' know the exact date, but you can name your first choice up until April 20 or something like that. If a college has already been named a first choice, you can change it if you like as well. You should have the yellow card to mail in with your first choice. You can mail it or fax it. If you have lost the card, contact the National Merit office. They are very helpful and friendly.

A few years ago my son was waitlisted from his first choice college. We called the office and found out how to change from that school to the one he decided to attend. He was awarded NM money at his new first choice.
