lol...my parents are making me apply to washington and lee because they offer merit scholarships...

fut18000: if you are liberal, you might want to consider other schools that offer merit scholarships. Some that come to mind are: Chicago, Wash U, and Oberlin College.

For those of you whose first choice is Brown: do you plan to apply Early Decision this fall?

I don't have the stats to get scholarships at Chicag and Wash U....I think I might check out oberlin though.

1) Brown.

2) Pomona, Stanford, Wesleyan, Rice, UT (Safety), and perhaps some others. I'm still deciding.

No, Boston College.

Brown, Harvard, Boston University, Johns Hopkins

I liked BC a lot more when I visited. I'll admit, I've grown up in a family that loves BC and I've been watching Eagles football since I was little so I'm a little biased. It may sound crazy considering the other schools I listed but BC is my top choice.

I don;t like BC it is too conservative for me

I like most of the schools on my list, but Brown is definitely one of the schools that is up there as my favorites.

USC, University of Houston, Northwestern, Rice, NYU, Fordham, WUSTL

Brown (ED)

Oberlin, Cornell, NYU, Rutgers, Tufts, and I'll throw Yale in the mix (why not?)

danny: looks like we're applying to some of the exact same schools. I really liked BC too, especially the first time I visited during the school year.

greenday: Howard Dean? Noam Chomsky? Barak Obama? 1,000-1,500 in the gay rights march? BC is NOT conservative.

Top choice is now Princeton (reach but still)

Others are: Brown, Harvard, Boston College, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, Northwestern (maybe), Chicago (maybe), Boston U (safety), Illinois (safety)

i know my list is random as hell, but i like all of the schools for different reasons

BC isn't extremely conservative, but it IS conservative when compared to most elite east New England schools (which tend to be very liberal). On relative terms (in comparison to the rest of the nation) BC is not conservative, but in comparison to schools like Wesleyan and Bard (and Macalester and Amherst but to a lesser extent), BC is conservative.

GreenDayFan: if you want a liberal atmosphere coupled with great academics similar to what Brown offers, with a more unified campus and laidback academic atmosphere, check out Wesleyan. Definitely visit. I visited both and wound up applying to Wesleyan, not Brown, early decision.

{/hijack Brown forum}
Sorry, just had to :X

I don't understand, is Brown's campus not unified?

Brown's up there, but I'm applying Yale SCEA

I'm also applying to Vassar, Harvard/NEC, Duke, Rice, Amherst, UCSD and IUB (match/safety)

I most likely will apply to Brown through Early Decision.

I also plan to apply to Georgetown, Penn, Stanford and Cornell.
