O.K. Those who are planning on applying to Brown. I have two questions:

1) Is Brown your first choice? if not what school is?

2) What others schools are you considering?

So it’s actually more like three questions. o well. :)

yes

tufts, georgetown, amherst, johns hopkins, columbia

people c'mon post!

Adero you have one random list of schools. Columbia is nothing like Amherst for example.

wow, fine I'll post....I have a while before I have to apply, but Brown is probably my first choice. I also like schools like Amherst, Tufts, Wesleyan, Bard, Macalester, Yale....

BROWN is definately my first choice!!!
I'm also applying to emory, cornell, yale, BU, GWU and washington and lee

brown and washington and lee? Brown is very liberal...W&L is conservative, these schools seem very different....

Brown is very liberal. People always say this. Brown has an extremely liberal curriculum and way that the school is run is very progressive (ie students have a lot of power) and is in the country's most liberal state, but I don't think we're any more liberal than most New England schools.

Brown is my dream school, although I don't think I'll get in. And I'm also applying to Vassar, Colgate, Bucknell, Hampshire, SUNY Geneseo, Muhlenberg, Ithaca, and Fairfield

Having said what I just did, most New England colleges are very liberal.

I think being very liberal is a good thing Moat.

I don't think its a good thing or a bad thing for a school to be very liberal. I happen to be pretty liberal, and to some degree I enjoy being in a more liberal, New England environment, but I wouldn't care if Brown as a whole was moderate or even slightly conservative. I don't really see how the overall political leanings of a school, so long as they aren't at either extreme, matter much. Most schools are overall liberal, and most New England schools are overall very liberal, but, so what?

Greenday: if you're interested in what schools other Brown students applied to, there was a thread a while back (probably 3 months or so) where a bunch of the '09 acceptees listed where else they applied and were accepted at.

do you know the name of the thread?

1) Brown forever!

2) UCB, UCLA, UCSD, U Miami, Rice, Rochester.

Yea, kinda random.

Brown or Dartmouth. I love the flexibility of the D Plan at Dartmouth. I love the flexibility of the no core at Brown.

Claremont McKenna, Scripps, BU, NYU, Georgetown, Tufts, UCSD, UCSB (even though I don't really want to go to a UC).
