I was talking to Carpe about how he said he had lost all respect for me. I'm not sure if questioning their motives to search the car is the way to go. One of the officers said he smelled smoke so maybe that was all they needed.

Let me put it to you this way, since you can't seem to understand it any other:

If they really cared to, what you just said on this board is as good as a confession. Get a lawyer. Get one now. Stop posting, you're putting your foot in your mouth.

Your lawyer will handle dealing with the stop. From what you've said, you don't have a chance, but what other people are alluding to is something called the exclusionary rule and the "fruit of the poisonous tree". In short, if your lawyer manages to show that the stop or any other search that followed from it was illegal, they can throw out everything that results from it - all the evidence. You would, in short, walk. However, even if you managed to get that, by your statements now, on this board, they could still convict you. Delete all posts here and get a lawyer. Stop posting.

IANAL, nor does this constitute legal advice beyond get a fricking lawyer.

Vesper, I think our wires are crossed. :) My last comment meant, I think you are handling this thread with extreme grace; you have had a lot of hard comments hurled at you (including by me) and are being very gracious and dignified in your responses. :)

My first comment meant that, as someone else mentioned, because you refused (yes, I did see your explanation, and understand it) to take a drug test, they have trys to figure out how to phrase it- not proof, but another something to throw at you, either in argument or, depending on your state, legally. Another post of yours led me to believe that you were confused about when another person stated that, so was trying to expound and what that other person said.

His posts couldn't be used against him unless the court could prove it was actually him posting, and even they found out that his sn was registered under his name, then he could just say that somebody else registered under his name....but then again....we all know that for such a minor case there is no way in hell that they are going to search all over the internet for some random incriminating posts.

You sound like a decent guy vesper, even if this does affect your college admissions, your going to be successful with what you do even at a comm. college or whatever, just hope that your lawyer kicks a-ss

Thanks for all the help.
